Fees

The Windermere Valley Minor Hockey Association (WVMHA) has some of the most affordable fees as compared to other larger associations and other sports.

The fees change annually and increase with the age of the player. Fees go toward paying the RDEK for ice time and running the association. Coaches, managers, on-ice helpers, and the WVMHA are all volunteer positions.

Teams usually practice twice a week from September through early March and so fees cover all of that ice time and running of the association. There are discounts for registering early, and late fees for registering late, so keep an eye on the Registration page of the website.

There are additional fees for tournaments (all ages) or league play (U11 and older only).

League play: usually involves travel and meal expenses but most families drive back/forth on days of league games but this does depend somewhat on the age of the player. Older players may end up playing in more distant leagues and so there would be associated accommodation expenses for these situations.

Tournament Fees - These are collected at the time of registration and deposited into the team bank account for families to decide, as a team, how many tournaments they will attend. There may be a refund at the end of the season depending on the number of tournaments and other team expenses. If the team decides to attend tournaments that will cost more than what the association has collected, then the manager/treasurer may need to collect additional tournament fees. This is highly unlikely as we have met with the managers and determined a reasonable tournament fee for each age group. These fees are exclusive of associated accommodation, meal, and travel expenses.

Volunteer Incentive Fees - These are collected at the time of registration. Those players/families that take part in the annual Purdys Fundraiser, can get their volunteer incentive payment credited or refunded (or a portion thereof), by selling Purdys chocolates during the annual WVMHA fundraising drive. Partial credits (refunds) will start at $200 in sales and increase incrementally to $500+ in sales.  For example, each player that sells a minimum of $500 will receive the entire incentive back as a credit.

If your player is trying out for another team: WVMHA requires fees, or at least the first instalment, to be paid first in order to register the player. This will cover insurance costs for the first few practices attended with the WVMHA. If your player makes the regional team, we will refund fees paid minus the cost of insurance.

All fees must be paid in full by October 15th, 2024.
