U9 | Under-9
General Information
Fundamentals of U9 hockey are developed and strengthened throughout the season. Our program is crucial in creating the unique connections that endure long after the game, creating memories and friendships that are the core of the hockey experience. Throughout the season, exhibition and tournament games are played on half of the ice. The number of games will vary depending what was discussed at the coaches, managers, and parents meeting as the beginning of the season.
The season could look like the following:
- Practices: WVMHA offers two on-ice practices per week.
- Power Skating: In September an additional ice-time is offered on weekends and additionally a group ice-time offered weekly with a certified power skating coach.
- Dryland: Offering a single session before practice each week to focusing on overall health and injury prevention.
- Tournaments and Exhibition Games: Decided at the beginning of the season with parents, coaches, and managers during the preseason meeting within the first 2 weeks of the season start.
The U9 program are for players turning 7 or 8 before December 31st of the current playing year.
