Eddie Mountain Award

(Volunteer of the Year)

The Rockies Jr B team was founded by Eddie Mountain, for whom our home arena, and the KIJHL Division in which the Rockies play is named. Eddie put in countless hours as the founder and manager to the Rockies organization and towards our community. The importance of Volunteers to our association cannot me over estimated whether it is a coach, manager, a member of the WVMHA board or a parent helping, they all deserve recognition.

Criteria:

  • Contributed talents, energy, and skills to better the WVMHA
  • Unselfish and Dedicated
  • Has Volunteered significant hours

RCMP Trophy

(Most Sportsmanlike Team)

Criteria:

  • Shows Dedication in all circumstances of a season
  • Represents the WVMHA and The Invermere Area in good model
  • Exhibits Fair play on and off the ice
  • Exhibits respect to other teams, refs, and officials

George Gibson Award

(Most Inspirational Player)

George Gibson was the First Trainer for the Columbia Valley Rockies Jr B team.  He worked tirelessly for the players and the hockey club helping establish the Team as a fixture in our community.

“Through their presence, actions and words of encouragement serves as an inspirational example”

Criteria: (Peewee and Older)

  • A person that motivates mentally and emotionally
  • Demonstrates excellent sportsmanship, leadership and contributes positive to their team and to the WVMHA
  • Encouraging no matter, the circumstances
  • The player who exudes their love of hockey

Dave White Award

(Most Dedicated Player)

Dave White, an Invermere based Professional Forester was an avid hockey player, and recreationalist, who earned the respect of his friends and co-workers by the dedication he put into everything he did.  Tragically, Dave perished Feb 24th, 2001 in an avalanche while skiing above Frances Creek.

Criteria: (Peewee and Older)

  • Player who is relied on for skill, talent, and ability
  • Player demonstrates hard work
  • Shows leadership on and off the ice
  • Always participates on and off the ice
  • Shows up on time, listens to drills and wants to learn.

Female Player

(Promoting Activism for Females)

Criteria: (Peewee and Up)

  • Encourages the growth of Female Hockey in the WVMHA
  • Displays commitment on and off the ice
  • Shows proficiency in Hockey
  • Has committed to self improvement in hockey
  • Displays leadership and sportsmanship

Mike Warriner Award

(Coach of the year)

Criteria:

  • Performance through excellence and sportsmanship on and off the ice
  • A coach who has Honesty, Integrity, positive attitude, competitiveness, and a love for the sport
  • Teaches players not only hockey but value and passion and has concern for all around development of players.
  • Shows respect for officials, opponents, parents and embraces a philosophy of fair play.
