Dryland

Dryland Photo

SC2 is proud to deliver a fun, safe training environment for Minor Hockey with a major focus on inclusivity, physical literacy and movement variability.

  • We view movement and athletic development in a way that supports 3-dimensional movement, enhancing balance, agility and proprioception (body awareness).
  • Our fundamental focus includes quality jump and landing mechanics, acceleration and deceleration strategies, and primary movement patterns performed exceptionally well.
  • The majority of teams will be experiencing dry-land sessions PRE ice time where the focus will be on preparing the body for the demands of their sport - central nervous system potentiation, and activation of muscles required to skate well.
  • Those teams that are POST ice times will likely still do very similar movements but at our coaches discretion- some slower, controlled bodyweight strength exercises, mobility and balance may become the focus should central fatigue be evident.
  • SC2 believes that most children in the Minor Hockey Association will not have experienced movement coaching in such a passionate, controlled, and science-seeped way. So, regardless of their dryland time, ALL kids will reap the rewards of this program! We thank you so much for the opportunity to share our skills.

Goalie Training

Offering additional goalie support to help build and improve skill with an organized dedicated goalie coach once per month. This program is open for all U9, U11, U13, U15, U18, and Female WVMHA team goalies.

Reasons for Goalie Specific Training:

  1. Goalies require more mobility, and need to improve this mobility in specific ways.
  2. Conditioning demands are different.
  3. Work rest ratio is different from other team member positions.
  4. Goalies move laterally.
  5. Equipment is different.
  6. Most importantly we want our goalies to have the support and assistance from each other and instructors that can provide further guidance mentally and physically.
